Welcome to our September clinic update! It's been a busy few months at Horner Vets, with a new face in the consult room, a new arrival for one of our front of house team, a huge milestone for Bradley's Promise and a very big birthday. Plus we’re also excited to be hiring for 3 new roles! Here's the latest from the practice.

Welcome to our new vet, James Beards
We're delighted to welcome James Beards to the Horner Vets team. James joined us as a full time veterinary surgeon on 1st September, having recently qualified from the University of Edinburgh, so you may already have met him in consults. Here's James in his own words:
"I'm delighted to be joining the team! I recently qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Edinburgh. My path here started at a young age; I grew up loving animals, watching wildlife documentaries and having lots of pets, from snakes to dogs to marine fish and corals. This passion grew into a real enthusiasm for the sciences at school, which led me to my veterinary degree.
Alongside my studies, I worked as a locksmith as well as doing mechanical and electronics work, honing a practical precision that's translated into excellent dexterity for surgery. As a keen chess player, I also love the pattern recognition and problem solving involved in interpreting x-rays and ultrasound.
Outside the practice you'll usually find me hiking or at the piano learning new classical pieces. I'm looking forward to meeting all our lovely patients, and their lovely owners!"
Welcome to the world, Oliver!
Congratulations to Catherine from our front of house team and her husband Josh, who welcomed their second baby boy, Oliver Joshua Fillip, on 31st July, weighing a healthy 8lb 15oz. Big brother Arthur is already getting ready to show him the ways of the world, and we're sure there are plenty of adventures ahead for the whole family.
Everyone at Horner Vets sends their love, and we can't wait to meet him!
Sarah's dream becomes a reality: Bradley's Promise is now a registered charity
After five years of hard work, dedication and determination, RVN Sarah has reached an incredible milestone: Bradley's Promise is now officially a registered charity (charity number 1219315). The charity number came through on 19th August 2026, which also happened to be the birthday of Bradley's brother, George, making it an even more meaningful day for the family and everyone connected to Bradley's Promise.
Sarah has poured enormous commitment and passion into getting here, and admits she's still taking it all in. Becoming a registered charity is a big step forward in continuing Bradley's legacy and helping Bradley's Promise support more young people and their families.
To mark the occasion, Sarah is planning to set herself a personal challenge, although she's made it very clear it won't be a bungee jump! If you have an idea for a challenge, would like to support Sarah, or know of another way to help, please get in touch with the team.

Happy 40th birthday, James!
On 23rd September, James celebrated the big 4-0! He may have had to share the limelight though, as his daughter Arabella turned 4 on the very same day. We have a feeling we know who got the most attention! Happy birthday to you both from everyone at Horner Vets.
